An MCP server for App Store search
See how your app really performs in App Store search.
ASOLens gives your AI assistant live App Store data: where you rank, how many apps you were ranked against, and what people actually type. Every number says where it came from.
claude mcp add asolens -s user -- npx -y @asolens/mcp
Free. No ASOLens account. It runs on your machine and keeps its history in a local SQLite file. Needs Node.js 22.13 or newer.
The thing a rank cannot tell you
Three unrelated audiences in one word: people hunting Ubisoft’s shooter, people wanting maths practice, and someone looking for a car dealership. Ranking near the top for “division” tells you nothing about which of them you reached. ASOLens checks this for free, in every storefront, before you commit.
Measured 2026-09-06 in the US storefront. Autocomplete drifts; run it yourself.
What it answers
- Where you rank
- For any keyword, in any of 17 storefronts, and how many apps you were ranked against. That number decides whether the rank means anything.
- What a keyword means to searchers
- Before you build a strategy on it.
- Which of your keywords work
- Which words in your keyword field pull their weight, which are dead weight, and which could not be tested. Needs your own App Store Connect key.
- Who owns your niche
- Where your rivals are weak, and what their users complain about.
- Whether a change worked
- Snapshot before, ship the metadata, compare after.
Built to be trusted
- Every number is labelled: observed (with its source and time), modelled (with the model and its inputs), or unavailable (with the reason and what would fix it).
- No download or revenue estimates. Nobody outside Apple knows those.
- It flags its own weak answers: a keyword it could not test, or a top-10 rank in a search that returned only seven apps.
- Read-only. It never writes to your App Store listing.
What leaves your machine
With no credentials set, ASOLens talks only to Apple’s public App Store endpoints, and it sends no telemetry. Two optional features reach further, and only once you set their credentials: reading your own listing (App Store Connect, free) and keyword search volume (DataForSEO, paid, US only).
Daily rank tracking — not open yet
A hosted service that checks your keywords every night from one fixed address and keeps the history, so you can see movement without running anything. It runs today for the author’s own two apps. If you would use it, email asolens@danielhan.dev with your app and roughly how many keywords and storefronts. Those emails decide whether it opens.
